Building strong futures: Electrical apprentice Levi Roberts

Second-year electrical apprentice Levi is proving to be a dedicated and hardworking tradesman at HVO.

“Taking on the apprenticeship with HVO was the best decision I ever made,” Levi said.

His journey began in high school when he completed a Certificate II in Electrotechnology before taking on the apprenticeship with HVO. Now, he’s getting hands-on experience working on a variety of machines and equipment, with every day bringing new challenges.

“HVO is a great place to work because of the variety of work,” Levi said. “I’m learning theoretical knowledge and then getting to apply it on all the different machines. The tradesmen here are really generous with their time and always willing to help.”

Levi’s typical day is focused on the regular servicing of machines and equipment, but currently, he’s working on a full rebuild of a 930E haul truck. He enjoys the responsibility, starting each day by planning the job with a qualified tradesman and then taking the initiative to get the work done.

His strong safety awareness has also been recognised by the HVO safety team. Levi was commended for his ability to identify and address hazards, follow safety policies, and manage risks in his daily tasks.

Looking ahead, Levi sees a long future at HVO. He hopes to finish his trade, possibly pursue engineering qualifications, and one day move into a supervisor role.

Outside of work, Levi is a gym enthusiast, training twice a day and sticking to a strict routine to make the most of his time.

“I love my job and I love the work we do. I’m excited to keep learning and see where this career takes me.”

With his enthusiasm for learning, strong work ethic and future-focused mindset, Levi is on a path to success at HVO.
