Upper Hunter residents and visitors will be able to get a little nostalgic at the 2024 TV & Movie Nostalgia Festival being staged in Muswellbrook in September.

HVO is supporting the Muswellbrook Chamber of Commerce and Industry event’s exhibit for the decade starting in the year 2000 through a community grant.

There will be activities happening at various venues around town, with the main event held at the Muswellbrook Showground on Saturday 7 September from 10am to 4pm.

Something for everyone

The family friendly event will have loads of entertainment to suit all ages including:

  • exhibits of TV shows, films and cars for every decade from the 1960s to today
  • live music playing and rockabilly dancing
  • performances and meet and greets by Bluey & Bingo
  • a family friendly Kids Zone
  • costume competitions
  • amazing attractions and characters such as a Back to the Future DeLorean, a ECTO 1 from Ghostbusters, Jurassic Jack Roresome Adventures, plus Bumblebee from Transformers, Spiderman, Disney princesses, and a range of Star Wars characters
  • roving artists and entertainers
  • market stalls and food trucks, plus a hospitality area showcasing Upper Hunter wines, spirits, and beer.

HVO community and environment officer Nic McLaughlin said the grant supporting the festival is one of 20 awarded to support Upper Hunter and Lower Hunter not for profit community group projects.

Nic said HVO also supports the Chamber’s other big festival – The Great cattle Dog Muster.

“HVO invests in the development of our community to build positive and lasting social and economic benefits,” Nic said.

“This festival will be a significant event for Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter, attracting visitors to the region and injecting substantial economic benefit into the local economy,” he said.
