Congratulations to Morgan Engineering NSW for taking out the HVO sponsored Excellence in Innovation Award at the 2024 Singleton Business Awards. The McDougalls Hill based company also took home the President’s Award and Excellence in Large Business Award and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for winning the Excellence in Innovation category three years in a row.

HVO general manager Dave Foster presented the award to Morgan Engineering’s operations manager Matthew Morgan and capability and infrastructure manager Martin Morgan at the gala ceremony at the Singleton Civic Centre on July 6.

Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) and its joint venture owners Yancoal and Glencore are all ongoing supporters of the awards. The organiser of the awards, Business Singleton, has honoured local businesses through the awards for 33 years.

Dave congratulated all the winners and finalists. He said the event showcases the many ways Singleton businesses, large and small, support local people and the community.

“A big shout out to Business Singleton for putting on another great event,” Mr Foster said.

“At HVO, we try and get behind people and organisations that make a difference to the community and the lives of local people,” he said.

“HVO supports local businesses wherever possible and makes a significant contribution to the local, regional and national economies. In fact, HVO’s direct economic contribution in 2023 was $2 billion. That includes $1.17 billion spent with 788 businesses, many of them local.”

“If our proposal to continue mining is approved, we will be able to continue this economic anchor for local businesses and the economy as our region transitions to a lower carbon future.”

The annual awards recognise organisations and celebrate individuals who have achieved excellence in the Singleton business community throughout the past 12 months.

This year’s awards were the biggest yet. There were 52 businesses and individual finalists from 126 entries across 21 categories.

HVO supported the Awards through one of its community grants. One of 20 it recently awarded to support Upper Hunter and Lower Hunter community projects and events that improve capacity building, skills, health and well-being and environment.

Morgan Engineering operates a range of onsite lineboring equipment, conventional and CNC equipment for horizontal boring, turning, milling and slotting.
