MATT HALL’S INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGES RESONATES WITH HVO STAFF

Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) staff experienced a morale-boosting and inspiring address from Red Bull Air Race world champion, Matt Hall, during their November staff training day.

As a team-building exercise, the former Royal Australian Air Force Wing Commander spoke about his life experiences and how he handles pressure.

HVO General Manager Dave Foster said training days are about helping employees to be successful. ”It was great for us to be able to hear from a man who has been extremely successful in both of his careers.”

“Whether you’re fixing trucks or working in our prep plant, it takes drive to overcome challenges. Matt’s mindset has helped him to tackle barriers and be successful,” he said.

“By listening to Matt and how he maintains his positive attitude through the ups and downs, it’s no different for any of our employees to hear of similar experiences.”

Matt reinforced that his story applies to anyone, extending beyond flying planes. He emphasised that success is about mindset and determination.

“There’s not a lot of luck in my life. I’ve been very fortunate, but it’s through mindset and determination,” Matt said.

“What I’m sharing is, although it may look easy from the outside, it’s a lot of hard work on the inside. There are hard times in life, but it’s how you dig yourself out that matters,” he said.

“I love making a difference and helping people. If you aim to be your best, you’ll end up having a great life.”

As part of the training day, staff could enter a competition to win a once-in-a-lifetime flight experience with Matt Hall in his high-performance air racing plane.

“The lucky winner will get to experience my life in the fast lane, going through a simulated air race experience in the aircraft.”

Matt started Matt Hall Racing after 18 years in the Royal Australian Air Force, transitioning careers when the Red Bull Air Race competition began touring the world in 2009. Coming from a long line of pilots, Matt began flying with his dad from an early age, taking his first solo flight at age 15 in a glider.
