HVO STAFF GIVE TO THOSE IN NEED THIS CHRISTMAS
21 December 2022Christmas is a time for giving and HVO staff have been doing just that.
This week HVO general manager Tony Morris and operations manager Phil Enderby dropped off donations to Singleton Salvation Army, Singleton Family Support and Singleton St Vincent de Paul.
St Vincent de Paul were given food items placed by staff under Christmas trees at the mine site. The Salvos and Singleton Family Support received $5,000 in department store gift vouchers to distribute in the community. Many HVO staff donated back the gift voucher HVO gave them for Christmas and HVO matched those contributions.
Mr Morris said Christmas is a time for giving. He said plenty of people are doing it tough this Christmas because of natural disasters and cost of living pressures, turning to community support agencies for help.
The donations come on top of the distribution of billy carts and toy kitchenettes to Singleton Family Support, Samaritans, and to families in the flood affected Central West of NSW. HVO staff made the toys at the mine’s most recent training days as a team building exercise.
“We are grateful for the support we receive from the community and always look to support our community wherever we can,” Mr Morris said.
“Vinnies, the Salvos, Samaritans and Singleton Family Support do a great job supporting people in our community – they deserve our thanks and support too,” he said.
Mr Morris went out with HVO staff to Dubbo, Parkes and Forbes to distribute the toys with local Salvation Army officers.
“Seeing the impacts of the flooding on farmers and the community was devastating. Hearing the resilience of local people was heart-warming and inspiring,” he said.
“Giving back and supporting community aligns with our values of thinking sharp, digging in and caring.”
“HVO and its staff wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holiday season.”
